long time no talk! if you want to hear more about my absence in detail, head over to the personal blog, otherwise feel free to move on.
we left off last year with gareth promising us some new content for us starting in 2026. as time moves on, i see more and more people grow increasingly inpatient about the whereabouts of LC8 and all i can say is... it's only march. as 20th anniversary celebrations kick off this late spring and early summer, i doubt we'll be seeing anything until at least one of the gigs or maybe even at the tailend of this year where a single is teased via a substack post. although last year we got the announcement at troxy which led into an all hell summer, i'm guessing this next albums theme will be spring. with every single album besides all hell being certified winter releases, it isn't hard to think that LC8 may continue on the theme LC7 had of moving on from the past with some spring cleaning. my only fear is that the band may not tour for the album til 2028, which was the soonest gareth said the band may head back to the states.
now, sound wise for the new album i think that we'll be seeing something much closer to no blues than anything else. if all hell expanded on ensemble choruses, why not return to the album that started the trend? i'd love to hear more rob solo parts on this record and if we have anything, at least he posted himself at the tailend of last year in studio (for sparky, lc! or maybe for another project we have no idea of.) of course, i think the band heard loud and clear that everyone wants more kim and tom as well.
i think the only thing we'll know for definite is that the band is hard at work on some part of album production. whether that be mixing and mastery or just beginning to write the lyrics, i am excited for whatever is in store! lc is indeed for lyf and i haven't given up on this blog quite yet.
for the first time in a while: love and guts, paisey. xx
i thought the best first post to this archive was a brief introduction on who everyone in los campesinos! actually is! although i see so many fans, there is a lot of confusion on who is who, who is still in the band, and some personality traits for each member so i'm here to try and solve that.
per the own bands website, los camp are gareth on vocals, jason on drums, kim on keys and vocals, matt on bass, neil on guitar, rob on keys, guitar, and percussion (wow!), and tom on lead guitar. below is a quick picture on who is who so people stop going "los camp is gareth, kim, and five guys with one discernable trait from one another."
from left to right here is neil, kim, jason, matt, rob, and tom! the current lineup in their full ofr their all hell press shots. each member has just as rich of a history as the next and it's super important to understand that.
"are there any past members?" yes! four members have left los campesinos! over the years, aleks, ollie, harriet, and ellen. all leaving from 2009-2012. a lot of old content features these members as well as ellen was the videographer for the band up til her departure and she recorded both the los campesinos! dvd and the hello sadness behind the scenes dvd and is the reason why we have so many photos of the band back in the day. ollie was also a prolific photographer for both his food reviews on the blog and for his friends and family facebook page up until his departure.
"is los camp a full time job?" nope and never really has been! all members besides gareth currently work full time jobs outside of the band and they talk about it pretty frequently on their socials. rob is directly hired from the band though to make almost all art for the group and is the primary art director, making the art for no blues, sick scenes, the 10th anniversary of romance is boring and alls well that ends, and for all hell. you've probably seen his work on tiktok!
"how do i get into los camp?" my personal favorite way that i have found to learn about the band is through old interviews and vlogs. you can search them up on youtube and find countless hours worth of interviews or dvd extras that show the members personalities and how they interact with one another as well as these videos serve to provide a deeper look into los campesinos. my personal favorite offical los camp video is the "how to play songs about your girlfriend" dvd clip from hello sadness, it's a hilarious skit that teaches you a few cords. there is however no wrong way to be a fan of los camp, you do not need to be a super fan to enjoy their music! these are just ways i have been successful in finding out more about the band.
alright, thats my very brief introduction for my favorite band before i start uploading archive images and thoughts to this part of the site. i wanted people to atleast be a bit familiar before i do!
